We are part of the Café Scientifique movement which is a place where, for the price of a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, anyone can come to explore the latest ideas in science and technology.

Café Scientifique is a forum for debating science issues, not a shop window for science. We are committed to promoting public engagement with science and to making science accountable.

Cafe Scientifique is an open public group that welcomes everyone.

There are no membership fees and you do not have to be a member to participate.

Everyone is welcome to come and express their views or just enjoy a drink and listen. No scientific knowledge is assumed and everyone can participate.

Interested in organising your own events?
If you want to organise social events, talks or visits for the Science Cafe, then we offer full membership of Hampshire M3 IVC for £10 per year.

Membership of Hampshire M3 IVC will provide you with the necessary third-party and legal liability insurance for your events. There are some venues and public events that will request proof of such insurance as a precondition for the use or hire of their facilities.

Basingstoke Science Cafe is the Science Interest Group for North East Hampshire IVC:
